current Battle Mountain General Hospital
Current Events
Founded in 1968, Battle Mountain General Hospital has served Lander County and neighboring communities with care, compassion, and competence. Over the past 40 years, the hospital has blossomed and grown to continue to meet the needs of our patients and residents within the confines of regulatory boundaries. We are about to undertake additional changes to serve our medical staff and patients with modern and comfortable facilities.
Phase I of the remodel and expansion project includes an upgrade of all floors in the facility. The vinyl and carpeted areas will be replaced with quality flooring that meets today’s healthcare standards. Following the flooring project, Phase II will include the expansion and remodel of the Emergency Department and Long Term Care Day Room. Administrator, Peggy Lindsey states, “The flooring project and the Day Room and Emergency Department renovations will demonstrate our professional and medical commitment to our community.”
The Emergency Department expansion will include an enlarged waiting area, an additional exam room, and traffic control for security and privacy. The Long Term Care Cay Room will more than double in size into a homey gathering room for our residents and their guests. To add to our home-like environment, we have planned a hair salon, computer station, flat screen TV, gas fireplace, and kitchenette. Two patios are planned; one for resident barbecues and outdoor events, the second will be a quiet area for visiting.
This expansion and renovation demonstrates Battle Mountain General Hospital’s long-term commitment to providing compassionate care to our patients and residents. It is a self-funded project investing back into the community, exhibiting the dedication of our staff and the financial strength of our hospital.
“Having the ability to work with a great staff at BMGH and provide excellent health care to the residents of Lander County is an honor.” Jeff Nester, Board Chair
“When I see or hear of staff and doctors “going the extra mile,” cheerfully doing their jobs with caring competence and compassion while helping others, I am proud to be a part of Battle Mountain General Hospital.”   Pat Brickley, Board Secretary
“I want to be a trustee because I feel we need broad representation on the board to have representation for all people of Lander County. I also believe that the mission and goals of the hospital are for the betterment of our community and want to see those missions and goals carried out.” Nancy Lockridge, Trustee
“Great satisfaction comes from serving on a hospital board which embraces diversity, progressive thinking and forward motion. The hospital board has demonstrated, through actions, its commitment to high performance standards for quality healthcare and the onerous role of the hospital to remain a solid contributor to the economic well being of Lander County.” Kathy Ancho, Trustee
“I asked to be the Commissioner on the Hospital Board to learn more about how the hospital works. Being on the Hospital Board allows me to give back to our community. Our hospital is well-managed and I am proud to be a part of the hospital.” Steven Stienmetz, Commissioner Trustee
